Finley FFA members spent Tuesday, December 16th, sharing the importance of agriculture with Finley Elementary fourth graders during Ag Day. A group of 15 Finley FFA members participated in the event, providing an engaging, hands-on learning experience designed to help younger students better understand where their food comes from and how agriculture connects to everyday life especially during the holiday season.

FFA members from the FARM Team prepared and delivered a presentation focused on festive holiday foods with farm-to-fork concepts, and highlighted seasonal agricultural commodities. Fourth graders learned about common holiday foods such as turkey, ham, pumpkin pie, apple pie, and cranberries and how each item is connected to farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers. As the presentation continued, FFA members passed out food samples tied to each commodity, helping students make real-world connections while keeping them actively involved through a worksheet and word-search activity.

In addition to teaching agricultural concepts, the event highlighted the importance of FFA members serving as positive role models for younger students. Throughout the day, the 15 FFA members demonstrated leadership, responsibility, and professionalism while working with the fourth graders. By interacting respectfully, answering questions, and encouraging participation, FFA members showed the impact that older students can have in inspiring curiosity, confidence, and a positive attitude toward learning.
After the presentation, FFA members joined the fourth graders for recess before returning to the classroom to conclude the day with a hands-on activity making pumpkin pie in a bag. This final activity brought the lesson full circle and provided a fun and memorable ending to Ag Day at the Elementary. The event was a meaningful opportunity for Finley FFA members to give back to their school community while reinforcing the values of leadership, service, and agricultural education.
Finley FFA would like to thank Ms. Kinne for allowing us to come up every year. In addition, a HUGE shout out and thank you to Ms. Merkley and Mrs. Witt for allowing Finley FFA to come to their classroom this year. We appreciate your continued support of this activity.
