Finley FFA Celebrates a Successful Year at Annual Awards Banquet

The Finley FFA Chapter celebrated another successful year during its Annual Awards Banquet held on Tuesday, May 19, in the River View High School Commons. Members, families, supporters, alumni, and school staff gathered to recognize the accomplishments of Finley FFA members and celebrate the chapter's many successes throughout the year.

Brantley Holden holding his awardsThe evening highlighted the dedication and hard work of members who participated in a variety of Career Development Events (CDEs) and Leadership Development Events (LDEs) at the district, sub-district, and state levels. Members were recognized for their commitment to leadership, personal growth, and agricultural education throughout the year.

Special awards were presented to several outstanding members. Brantley Holden was recognized as the Star Discovery Member, while Ava Teagle received the Star Greenhand Award. Soren Miles was honored for earning the prestigious Washington State FFA Degree, one of the highest honors bestowed upon state FFA members.

The chapter also recognized members who earned their Chapter FFA Degree, including Trell Miles, Myles Gore, Sage Kriewald, Mekdes Kronburg, Mya Steagall, Kalina Bush, Bryanna Denbow, and Hailey Herrin.

The chapter honored its graduating seniors, Victoria Sartain and Brekkyn Ward, for their years of involvement and leadership within Finley FFA. Victoria Sartain was additionally presented with the Alumni Choice Award in recognition of her dedication and contributions to the chapter.

Throughout the evening, members were recognized for earning proficiency awards in a variety of agricultural areas, including Agricultural Careers Research, Beef Production, Equine Science, Forage Production, Fruit and Vegetable Production, Sheep Production, Small Animal Care, Cereal Grain Production, Landscape Management, Agricultural Sales and Service, Agricultural Mechanics, Agricultural Sales and Service Placement, Swine Production, Diversified Livestock Production, and Greenhouse Production.

Mr. Harrington holding honorary FFA awardOne of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Honorary Chapter FFA Degree to Mr. Harrington of Finley Middle School. This award recognized his years of support, encouragement, and commitment to the success of Finley FFA and its members.

Guests also enjoyed a year-in-review presentation highlighting chapter activities, competitions, conferences, community service projects, leadership events, and student achievements from throughout the year. The chapter's silent auction was another success, raising more than $600 to support future chapter activities and opportunities for members.

The Finley FFA Chapter would also like to extend its sincere appreciation to the many individuals and groups who help make the program successful each year. Special thanks were given to the Agricultural Advisory Board, alumni volunteers, Jamboree supporters, school administrators, district office personnel, counselors, kitchen staff, secretaries, transportation staff, principals, sponsors, and community supporters. Their continued encouragement, volunteer efforts, and financial support help provide valuable opportunities for Finley FFA members.

The banquet served as a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the past year and recognize the many people who contributed to the success of the Finley FFA Chapter. Members are already looking forward to another exciting year of leadership, service, personal growth, and agricultural education.
