In May, FCCLA officers went to Finley Middle School and gave the incoming freshman a presentation about FCCLA. They explained the 8 FCCLA Purposes:

  1. To provide opportunities for personal development and preparation for adult life.
  2. To strengthen the function of the family as the basic unit of society.
  3. To encourage democracy through cooperative action in the home and family.
  4. To encourage individual and group involvement in helping achieve global cooperation and harmony.
  5. To institute greater understanding between youth and adults.
  6. To provide opportunities for making decisions and for assuming responsibilities.
  7. To prepare for the multiple roles of men and women today.
  8. To develop interest in family and consumer sciences, family and consumer science careers and related occupations.

The 8th graders were invited to attend our May 18th lunch meeting. The meeting was an introduction to how the FCCLA meetings work. They got the experience of listening to members give their speeches about why they would make a great candidate for the position they ran for. Before the meeting was concluded FCCLA invited the 8th graders to our final meeting.

May 25th was another lunch meeting with all members and 8th graders. While everyone was eating Mrs. Ward announced member awards for the year, as well as the new FCCLA officers.

The names listed below will be River View FCCLA 2022-23 new officers:

  • Stefania Tlachi - President
  • Sandra Rodriguez - Vice President
  • Alexis Lopez - Secretary/Treasury
  • Elizabeth Mendoza - Historian
  • Yocselin Renteria - Social Media/Photographer
  • Makayla Brooks - Social Media

I want to congratulate the incoming officers as well as officers of 2021-22 for their arduous work this year. To all seniors graduating, congratulations and good luck with whatever you will be doing after high school.

See you all next year,
Elizabeth Mendoza, FCCLA Historian
