River View High School freshmen recently completed the teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA) program. With funding from Educational Service District 123, 61 freshmen recently earned certification after completing the six-week, evidence-based program during their health class.

Throughout the program, students learned to recognize the signs and symptoms of common mental health challenges and how to respond in a safe way. The program emphasizes that students are not expected to solve problems themselves, but to be caring peers who can connect someone in need with a trusted adult or appropriate support.
The program concluded with a celebration recognizing the students achievement. Each participant received a certificate of completion, along with an orange bracelet symbolizing their training and willingness to help others.
